Lincoln Log Sandwiches

Whether you celebrate President’s Day, Washington’s Birthday, or Lincoln’s Birthday, Lincoln Log Sandwiches are a fun and tasty treat for patriotic occasions. Some on the west coast know them as Seattle Cream Cheese Dogs. They’re so simple there’s really no recipe needed, but if you want a gourmet level Lincoln Log, here you go!

10 mins to prep, 20 minutes to cook

What you need for 4 servings

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 4 hot dogs
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • Mustard of your choice
  • Cheddar, sliced (optional)

To prepare

Melt butter in a frying pan over medium high heat. Add onions and cook slowly until they have softened and browned, about 10 minutes. Add hot dogs and grill until browned.

To assemble

Toast the hot dog buns and spread with cream cheese. Split the hot dogs lengthwise and place on buns with onions. Top with mustard and cheddar if desired.
